Old and New

I liked the look of this photo, a memento mori kind of picture but also beautiful so I'm including it to the blog.

This is almost the last of the anemones to bloom. It is one of the oldest in our garden which we bought from an now defunct nursery as a tiny $1.49 plant. It looks and is tall like A. Japonica 'Victor Jones' but I can't be sure.

Great color on the anemones. I have yet to try any. That looks like a great bargain for a dollar plant. All they need is love.

Hi VanillaLotus,
That was an exceptionally great nursery to buy cheap and unusual plants. Unfortunate that the old gent died and the nursery closed. We bought a lot of wonderful plants there. I would highly recommend an anemone. Just be aware that Anemone japonica tend to get rather tall so should be placed in the back of a border. Thanks for the comment.

Lovely photo! I like the two blossoms also, the new and the old.

Hi Iowa gardening woman,
I saw these flowers and liked the juxtaposition.
Sort of death and re-birth kind of thing.
