That is one interesting plant. I thought that the sepals where more red. Do they turn red or do yours stay pink. Either way it is very pretty. Do they flower also?

Hi Vanilla Lotus,
I've seen pictures of other Seven Sons tree sepals and they look darker pink. This is the first time I've seen the sepals on this tree although it has bloomed for at least 3 years so I don't know if the sepals will turn a darker pink or red. And they do have flowers too. I have a photo of the tree flowering on the Thursday, September 13, 2007 blog entitled: Very late post for Garden Blogger's Bloom Day, September.

Although there were many flowers only a few sepals appeared after the flowers fell off.

HI Ruth,
The tree is crazy and wild. It grows vigorously so you have to either prune it back hard as we do or make sure it has a lot of space around it. When I first saw it, I thought it was some kind of yellow twig dogwood and I liked it's exfoliating bark which reveals a yellowish tan color. Much like a crape myrtle. I like it a lot.
