Unknown mushroom, probably a bolete and fallen Yoshino cherry sepal.

Hi Deemom,
I didn't see the cherry sepal until I downloaded the photo of the mushroom. I thought it was cool.

Great photo's! Do you know what the small flower in the background is?

Hi Sara,
The small flower behind the mushroom is actually a sepal or calyx, the part that holds the petals and where the fruit eventually forms. The Yoshino cherry is an ornamental flowering cherry so although I've seen a few tiny green fruit they usually fall fairly early. Most of the calyxes end up on the ground just like this one soon after the petals fall. Thanks for your comment.

Great shroom picture! Perfect little button, isn't it?

Hi Iowa Gardening Woman,
I thought it would become a very large one but it soon disappeared even if it seemed to be in an ideal location to grow. I wonder if those darned squirrels made off with it? It was a perfect button.
