Now those are some strange looking mushrooms. Interesting about the foxes in your area.
Nice pic of some cool mushrooms. I don't know what kind they are but I've never seen some so close to black.
Hi Iowa gardening woman &Mr. Brownthumb,Coprinus are the inky cap mushrooms which turn into a liquid black mass in a few hours after you pick them. I think this is the Coprinus lagopus but can't be positive. See the mushroomexpert.com site for photo comparison:Coprinus lagopusI looked through some of the other Coprinus and they don't have the upward flip of the mushroom edges.Now we're down to one fox. Two others were roadkill. This is the first time in the 6 years we've been at this house that we've seen foxes.
I have tons of these in the gardens! They aren't around later in the day, but first thing in the morning...lots!
