Flower-of-the-Hour, Hibiscus trionum

Hibiscus trionum, aka Bladder hibiscus, Modesty, Venice mallow. Grows as a weed in our yard but I don't see it in our neighbors' yards.

Hello, ki. Your photography is stunning! I love all of it, from the seed suspended in the spider's web to the fungi. All of it is fascinating and shows a love of observing things closely. I enjoy doing that too, and then, painting them :)

Thank you Wildlife Gardener. What medium do you use?

We have these right now, too. I do pull them out, even though the flower and foliage is rather pretty. Maybe I should leave them? I'll bet in a large grouping, they would look great!

Hi Kylee,
They get a little weedy in late summer but since the flowers are so pretty, we keep them around until the blooming slows down then pull them up.
